About Phil Kaplan
Visionary Architect of Human Betterment
Â
Phil Kaplan has held a leadership role in personal training, health club innovation, and medical fitness for more than three decades.
He’s been called “The Master of Body Transformation” by Joe Weider and was introduced as “The Trusted Purveyor of Fitness Truth” when honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2005 Club Industry Conference.Â
―――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
Phil's journey began with a passion for fitness and immersion in the study of Exercise Physiology, but it was his gift for translating biological complexity into practical transformation that made him one of the world’s first “celebrity trainers,” working with icons like Lynda Carter and Liza Minnelli. Still, he quickly realized that true impact would come not by training the elite, but by serving everyday people struggling with energy, weight, symptoms, and early-stage chronic disease.
In 1987, his ability to deliver promised outcomes and influence others to implement proven systems led to an offer from Bally’s Health & Tennis Corporation to bring his methods to their Scandinavian Health Club division. He was hired to train new teams at their flagship facilities and promoted to National Director of Service, overseeing three grand openings in the growing Cleveland market.
With his sights set on returning to Florida, in 1989, Phil was hired by Disney/ARVIDA to design their South Florida showcase: The Athletic Club at Weston, a $10 million, 24-acre flagship facility. That project opened doors to a series of high-end developments in Aventura and North Miami, including One Island Place, The Spa at Mystic Pointe, and Oceania’s Beach Resort — each blending science, luxury, and measurable results.
As his reach expanded, so did his message. His early programs, including TRANSFORM (over 150,000 copies sold) and The Body You Love, became national successes. His voice — literally and metaphorically — reached millions through over 1,000 television and radio appearances, record-breaking sales on QVC, and featured spots in major markets across the globe.
Phil was soon called to travel internationally, bringing his transformative philosophies to audiences from Brazil to Moscow, Canada to Trinidad, and throughout the United States. He spoke not only to fitness enthusiasts, but to trainers, allied health professionals, doctors, and thought leaders — those ready to usher in a new era of evidence-based, human-first wellness.
Over the years, Phil has earned 17 fitness certifications, authored chapters for industry-defining texts such as the NSCA’s Essentials of Personal Training, spoken at hundreds of industry conferences, and written for over two dozen publications, including Club Industry, PFP, Flex, Muscle and Fitness, Bariatric Lifestyles, Shape, and IDEA Fitness Journal.
He’s also authored several books, including:
- The Answer
- The Best You’ve Ever Been
- The Mental Conditioning Bible — translated into Japanese and a best-seller in Japan.
As a regular guest on NBC and ABC News, and host of the syndicated Mind & Muscle Fitness Hour on Clear Channel’s WIOD, Phil has been a trusted voice in consumer advocacy — exposing scams, misinformation, and industry deception while sharing science-backed tools that truly transform lives.
In 2005, Hurricane Wilma devastated South Florida.
The storm destroyed Phil Kaplan’s Fitness Headquarters — a 4,500-square-foot production and coaching facility in Wellington, Florida — flooding his warehouse, training studio, office, and production lab.
As contractors rebuilt his damaged flooded space, and it was again move-in ready looking brand new, something else was unraveling. Phil began experiencing a sudden onset of unusual symptoms, starting with respiratory issues slowly evolving to include a stutter, loss of balance, and tremors. A short journey from specialist to specialist landed him a a renowned medial institution where he was diagnosed as having a crippling degenerative irreversible disease.
The doctors prescribed medications… but offered no clarity as to a course of recovery, no consideration of a root cause, and no path to healing.
It was an inner voice that prompted Phil to reject the diagnosis, refused the label, and consider the possibility that the doctor was wrong.
He followed his intuition — and launched a global search for answers.
After hundreds of hours of relentless study, and consultations with naturopaths, rabbis, pastors, shamans, yogis, and experts of every kind, Phil landed in the Maryland office of Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker, who uncovered the truth: toxic mold exposure was the root of his deterioration.
Through aggressive detoxification, strategic recovery, and cellular restoration, Phil reversed every symptom — no forever drugs, no surgery, and no more mystery. That experience redefined his life and work.
He turned inward — and upward — determined to better identify the true root of the epidemic incidence of modern chronic illness. Working with physicians at Johns Hopkins, teams at Merritt Health Clubs, and over 180 individuals diagnosed with chronic conditions, Phil and his team developed a clinical and coaching framework he named R.E.M.A.S.S. —
Restrictive Endocrine Maladaptive Adrenal Stress Syndrome — an underrecognized root condition behind the great majority of today’s inflammatory, metabolic, and autoimmune disorders.
In 2008, with newfound experience in reversing chronic disease through his synergistic system of supportive eating (Circadian Nutrition), functional movement aligned with the divine architecture of the human body, detoxification, breath, lymphatic stimulation, natural mitochondrial repair, and parasympathetic recovery, Phil took the stage at the Javits Center in New York City, delivering a presentation that would become a cornerstone of his life’s work. The title, intentionally provocative:
“Personal Trainers Can Cure Disease.”
The room was split — trainers on one side, medical doctors on the other — as Phil moderated a panel of three physicians and three fitness scientists. It was a bold and public confrontation with a failing system. For many in attendance, it was the first time they heard what they had long suspected: conventional medicine offers no viable model for reversing chronic disease.
That moment opened the conversation that continues to shape Phil’s mission to this day.
Using the lens of R.E.M.A.S.S., with its own inherent scoring system as a diagnostic tool, Phil created unique and replicable strategies for adrenal restoration, including his All-Out Burst™ Protocol, diaphragmatic breathing, vagal nerve stimulation, and micro-recovery tools — all rooted in rhythm, energy, and evidence-based biology.
With a well-verified body of evidence, continuing to improve the process and outcomes, 2018 brought the layering in of biohacks, Red Light Therapy (RLT), PEMF, and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT).  This led to further advancement of client protocols, further acceleration of recovery, or verifiable healing, of dramatic improvements in energy production, and full-system repair.
That same year, he was named a Director of the Medical Fitness Network and served as keynote speaker at their National Conferences in Southern California and Seattle — presenting to hundreds of leaders across clinical and fitness domains on the future of integrative care.
Then came 2020.
As the world shut down, Phil stepped up — launching a virtual initiative called “55 Days”. With a team of 21 elite coaches, he delivered his programs virtually to over 4,000 people, creating structure, accountability, and breakthrough results during a time when most had lost connection to their health and habits.
That experience confirmed something vital:
You don’t need four walls to change a life.
By 2025, Phil officially stepped away from brick-and-mortar operations, choosing to bring his flagship programs — RECLAIM, Younger Better Stronger, and the Metabolic Reboot — directly to the public through digital platforms, coaching systems, and scalable infrastructure.
To date, over 18,000 people have used these frameworks to reverse chronic disease, reclaim energy, and restore the body’s original blueprint — without dependency, gimmicks, or white-coat barriers.
Phil Kaplan takes pride in calling himself a Personal Trainer.
It reflects his origin, honors his craft, and reminds the world that the truest form of transformation begins with trust, movement, and vision.
But he is far more.
An Innovator. A Strategist. A student of Asclepius, Galen, Maimonides, and Hermes.
A catalyst for healing. A navigator of restoration. A builder of systems powered by soul.
He is the founder of the Human Betterment Alliance, the initiator of Healer Nation, and a spiritual technician working at the forefront of the next wave of medicine.
His mission is clear:
To restore human potential by reconnecting biology to its original blueprint.
The blueprint he calls The Healing Code.
